The Shot Heard Round the World

Okay so let me say Lebron James shot has been dragged out of proportion. Let me first start by saying what I liked about this shot.

1. important- going down 2-0 in a series and losing two straight games where you lost only two games all season.

2. It was a three- Lebron isnt known for his three point prowess

3. Wanting the ball- it showed me that lebron is starting to want the ball. I found it interesting on sports center yesterday they showed the clip of his buzzer beater over the warriors. Then the box said that it was his first buzzer beater. I feel like it is about time lebron or “the chosen one” starts taking and hitting these shots.

Now you have to be saying to yourself “self, how is unimpressed by this shot.” Well I am unimpressed by the actual shot and the media reactions.

Let me tell you what I saw in this shot. I saw a deep three with one second left. Some would say he had two guys on him. Incorrect he only had one guy on him, Hedo. Lewis was in the back away from the ball and jumped in very late and wasnt even close to lebron. Others would say he was smothered. True but he had full vision of the rim and simply had to jump to get over Hedos outstretched arms. Dont look over the fact that Hedo didnt jump. That is a 6′8” guy jumping while a 6′10” guy has his hands up. I dont see why that is so great Lebron had no problem getting the ball over Hedo’s hands and getting a clear look. Another thing I heard was that Hedo played great defense. He played good defense. If Battier had been on him he would of had a hand in his face. I feel like giving him a clear view of the hoop is good defense not great, you have to put that hand in the face. Finally I heard he faded away. This is crazy, he caught the ball and shot. He had good positioning when he caught it, plenty of time to get the actual shot off , and just enough love from the rim for it to go down.

The media for some reason has had a field day with this. I dont see how after one shot you can say a man is more clutch then Chauncey Billups or even Kobe. One shot makes you as clutch as Big Baby. Look he is “the choosen one” I dont understand why the media feels they need to come in and make a buzzer beater three into a double teamed fad-away hurl three to win the game. Look there have been guys all year and playoff long hitting these shots. Go crazy for them. Go crazy for guys like Ray Allen. That man was hitting threes with 6′10” guys in his face too. He did it more than once.

To me this situation is just one more reason the sports world needs a blog like this. I am here to cut the fat out of sports and get straight to the meat.

The Fat- fad-away, double teamed, better than jordans.

The Meat- an important three pointer that was hit at the buzzer while being guarded tightly.

Thanks for the read and please comment.

Hello world!

What is up blog world. I am Mike “big gulp” dowling but you can call me Mr un-impressible. I have a staunch love for sports, all sports. What I have that is unique is my love to hate on players some would call great, or the best there is. I have found myself talking to friends about a play or player, and while they are in awe of the greatness of a goal, shot, or even by the players body of work, I find myself saying I am not that impressed. So my goal for this blog is to collaborate with some of my friends and maybe even some of my readers and put up some blogs that will hate on players that are babied by the media. I hope that some of these posts offend some fans but I hope that in the end these posts will open your eyes and make you think, “hey maybe so and so isnt that great.”
